Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office completed Kwon’s paperwork and delivered it to Montenegrin authorities. Kwon may face over 30 years in Korean prison, but there is a chance of acquittal in the USA. It’s uncertain where Kwon will be tried, as few cases like his exist, and multiple countries seek his extradition.
The official stressed South Korea’s possession of key evidence and relevant people as persuasive factors. The USA’s harsher sentence could become a meaningless action if Kwon is acquitted due to being indicted before the investigation. The US Attorney’s Office in New York charged Kwon after his Montenegro arrest.
Kwon’s extradition is vital for Korean victims to receive swift compensation. Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office’s Joint Financial and Securities Crimes Investigation Team re-solicited Shin Hyun-sung’s arrest warrant, who is accused of being an accomplice in the Terra-Luna scandal. Shin’s pretrial interrogation is on March 30.
