SEC Wins Trial Case Against Do-Hyeong Kwon, CEO of Terra/Luna

Do-Hyung Kwon and Terraform Labs faced legal actions from various authorities including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for allegedly selling unregistered securities involving cryptocurrencies like Terra, MIR, and mAssets. These actions involved raising billions from investors between April 2018 and May 2022.

Judge Jed Rakoff in New York granted a summary judgment favoring the SEC, potentially paving the way for Kwon’s extradition to the U.S., where he’s currently detained in Montenegro. Reports suggest his extradition to the U.S. instead of South Korea, as previously speculated, to face criminal charges related to commodity, securities, wire fraud, and market manipulation. This legal ordeal stems from allegations of misleading investors about the risks associated with their cryptocurrency offerings.
